New, updated and revised Tutorials / Training Programme available

Laurie Thomas NZ Landscap Salon text

Multi award winning photographer Jackie Ranken first established herself as a master photographer with her unique black and white aerial imagery. Since moving to New Zealand in 2003 her photography has matured into a more diverse range of subject matter, her love of the monochrome image remains true.

The high-lights of her career were in 2002 when Jackie won the Canon AIPP Australian Photographer of the Year and was second in ‘Stories’ in the World Press a Awards. She is the current Epson NZIPP Photographer of the Year and Landscape Photographer of the Year. She is co-director of the Queenstown Centre for Creative Photography in New Zealand with her husband Mike Langford.

Bruce Jensen has updated the Tutorials / Training Programme and it is now available as a PDF file for you to view.

Please use this instead of the copy you may have previously had.

Below are the sessions that have changed:

The Photo-Journalism tutorial by Frank Green is now to be October 7th and 21 October instead of July as originally planned. There will be no tutorial in July except for Image Analysis with Ron Willems on the 22nd July.

Publishing a Photography Book by John Barnes has been bought forward to 26th August and the Critique and Feedback session originally planned for August will now be on 23 September.

The November tutorial (4th & 18th November) is now entitled Digital Dark Room and this will be conducted by Wayne Collins.

On the 20th July, the entries for the Trenna Packer Salver will be screened at the Nature Photographic Society of New Zealand club rooms, from 7.30pm.

They meet at Hancock Hall (formerly the Hoon Hay Working Men's Club), Tankerville Road, Hoon Hay.

This interclub competition commemorates Trenna Packer, a member of Hagley Camera Club and CPS. She was a keen naturalist and died tragically travelling home from a field trip. Clubs are required to enter six images, and they should show the diversity of nature.

Our set, selected by S and G member Ron McKie consists of the following images:

Blue Damsel Fly by Kevin Tyree
Windblown Sand, Farewell Spit by Bevan Tulett
Australian Juvenile Sea Lions by Dianne Calvert
Stratocumulus Cloud by Ron Willems
Green-breasted Mango Feeding by Graeme Guy
Flamecap by Robin Wood.

It is a very diverse set made up from bird, animal, fungi, insect, geological and cloud studies.

For members interested in things natural, this is a very entertaining evening, and well worth attending. Why not car pool with some friends.
