Not being a golf or tennis type and with a brain to which the game of bridge is is a disaster area, I have found photography is a hobby from which I get great pleasure. I joined CPS despite being rather nervous about competitions because I wanted stimulation and education in photography.

I think the generously given tutoring sessions prior to some meetings are invaluable as a learning process. Also, CPS is multi focussed, there are competitions in all areas if interest; portrait, natural history,PJ, etc. and that appeals to me.

The competitions turned out not to be scary at all and although I have not been focussed enough and been away a lot, I do hope to get my grade up to B one day!

I have made some really nice friends at CPS and I like it that there is a weekly meeting and organised field trips. When I joined it was a high percentage of middle aged to ancient .... now it is wonderful to see so many more young people. They are doing so well in the competitions and good for us all.

The reason I joined CPS was to improve my photography.

Before joining I thought taking a photo was all about smile and click. But I saw photos from different people and wondered why I couldn't do that or better still how could I do that?

I joined CPS and realised that I knew zip. In the first year I learned about composition, F stops and shutter speed. Having lots to learn I have found the evening workshops very helpful indeed.

I am glad I joined and look forward to being a member for a long time.

Thanks to CPS with their helpful members my photography has improved for the better.
